Application of WirelessHART in process industry

The HART Communication Foundation () recently received a report submitted by NAMUR (German Committee for Measurement and Control Standards), stating that it has affirmed that WirelessHART technology can meet the application requirements of wireless sensor networks in the process industry. After on-site testing of equipment from various manufacturers, MAMUR finally concluded that WirelessHART communication has the characteristics of flexibility, safety, reliable performance, and coexistence with other radio technologies, and can interact with other WireleeHART-compliant devices in the same WirelessHART network operating.

The field test conducted by NAMUR used WirelessHART equipment provided by ABB, Emerson Process Management, E + H, MACTek, P + F and Siemens. The test showed that WirelessHART complies with NAMUR ’s recommended technical specification NE124 "Requirements for Wireless Automation" And working draft NA115 "IT Security of Process Automation Systems". The on-site test was conducted at BASF in Ludwigshafen, Germany. The test included evaluation of the characteristics of WirelessHART in the laboratory and multiple application tests in the actual process plant environment.

Mr. MarTIn Schwibach, senior automation manager of BASF and chairman of the MAMUR AK4.15 wireless automation working group, said: "When using wired technology is costly or difficult to install, WirelessHART technology is undoubtedly a good choice. Field tests show that the WirelessHART standard fully complies with MAMUR Requirements for the use of wireless automation technology in the process industry. "

MAMUR was established in Germany in 1949. It is an international organization consisting of 121 chemical, petrochemical and other process industry companies. MAMUR has 15,000 experts, of which about 300 are active in 33 different working groups, covering a wide range of fields such as measurement and control, automation, communications, process control and electrical engineering.

Mr. Ron Helson, Executive President of the HART Communication Foundation said: "We are very pleased to prove that WirelessHART can meet the requirements of users through MAMUR tests. Of course, the actual use of users also proves the function of WirelessHART, which is designed for process applications Wireless communication technology, which is based on the application of millions of HART devices worldwide. We look forward to further cooperation with MAMUR and other organizations to promote the development of this technology, and hope that more users can benefit from This technology. "

The HART communication protocol is a leading communication technology for intelligent process measurement and control of field devices and systems. More than 30 million HART devices have been installed worldwide. The WirelessHART standard is a further extension of the HART communication protocol. WirelessHART technology is backward compatible with existing HART devices. Whether in old or new monitoring and control applications, WirelessHART can provide more ability to obtain asset management information.
