On the afternoon of May 28th, the Guangdong Provincial Conference on Promoting the Application of LED Lighting Products was held in Guangzhou, focusing on the deployment of Guangdong Province in the public lighting field to promote the popularization of LED lighting products. The provincial government and local governments signed a letter of responsibility for the promotion and application of LED lighting products in Guangdong Province with the listed government. Zhu Xiaodan, deputy secretary of the provincial party committee and governor, attended the meeting and delivered a speech.

During the meeting, the Guangdong Provincial Government issued the “Implementation Plan for Promoting the Use of LED Lighting Industry in Guangdong Province”. The meeting emphasized that from the date of implementation of the program, the lighting projects of the province's roads, public places, government agencies, state-owned enterprises and institutions, and other new areas such as Nansha, Qianhai and Hengqin will be used. LED lighting products.

According to the plan, the Pearl River Delta region should strive to popularize LED public lighting before the end of 2014, before the end of 2014, to promote the whole society to popularize LED lighting, to achieve more than 50% energy saving in the province's year-on-year caliber, and to drive the LED industry. At the end of the 2nd Five-Year Plan period, the annual output value will be more than 500 billion yuan. In 2011, the total output value of LED in Guangdong Province was about 150 billion yuan, which means that the output value of LED industry in Guangdong Province will more than triple during the “Twelfth Five-Year Plan” period. The compound growth rate of industry output value will reach 49% in the next five years, maintaining rapid growth.

This time, the support policy for the LED industry introduced by the first local government is far greater than the state's subsidy policy for energy-saving lighting products. In this regard, market participants pointed out that the decision of the Guangdong provincial government has obvious positive significance for stimulating the development of China's LED industry, and the policy constitutes a substantial positive for the LED industry chain. First, the government has strongly promoted the release of large-scale demand. At present, the largest enterprise of LED public lighting in China has an annual income of less than 500 million yuan. Only the policy promotion of Guangdong Province is expected to create tens of billions of terminal demand in the next 12 months. It can effectively promote the scale effect of LED lighting application enterprises to become bigger and stronger. Second, the volume of terminal products will drive the demand for upstream chips. In the competitive bidding process, the ever-decreasing bidding price in turn creates a price reduction pressure on retail prices. The reduction in retail prices should stimulate greater demand for products, thereby driving the demand for upstream lighting chips and promoting the overall industry boom of LEDs. It will continue to rise in the next 18 months.

At the beginning of the 19th century, Edison invented incandescent lamps, and electric energy began to be used in the field of lighting. Over the past 100 years, after several generations of scientific and technological personnel's efforts, electric light sources have experienced two technological revolutions from incandescent lamps to gas discharge lamps. The indicators of light efficiency, longevity and color rendering have been continuously improved, and the price has been decreasing. Now, the third revolution in electric light source technology - LED solid-state lighting (LED, Light Emitting Diode) has arrived, just kicking off the popular application.

Traditional electric light source technology has obvious defects

If the price factor is not considered, the traditional electric light source (incandescent lamp, gas discharge lamp, etc.) has some obvious technical defects that are difficult to completely solve, and this becomes the biggest obstacle that restricts its further development and growth.

Incandescent lamp - low efficiency, short life and high power consumption

Incandescent lamps generally have two types of ordinary incandescent lamps and tungsten halogen lamps. The tungsten halogen lamp is a halogen-filled tungsten incandescent lamp. The commonly used tungsten halogen lamps are iodine-tungsten lamps and bromine-tungsten lamps, and their luminous efficiency and service life are superior to those of ordinary incandescent lamps. Tungsten halogen lamps are mainly used for glare lighting, such as lighting in public buildings, transportation, filmmaking, and television production. Among them, the iodine-tungsten lamp can also be used as a heat source for desiccant and oven, and can be used for indoor lighting such as stadiums and swimming pools.

The principle of illumination of an incandescent lamp is that heat is generated when the current passes through the filament (tungsten wire, melting point of more than 3,000 degrees Celsius), and the spiral filament collects heat. When the temperature is higher than 2000 degrees Celsius, the filament is in an incandescent state and emits light. The higher the filament temperature, the brighter the light emitted. The characteristic of incandescent lamp is that it emits continuous spectrum, so the color rendering is high; the filament becomes soft and sublimated at high temperature, and it is easy to be blown, so the life is short; most of the electric energy is converted into heat energy, so the photoelectric conversion efficiency is extremely low, and the power consumption is low. Big.

Gas discharge lamp - containing mercury and rare earth, poor color rendering, high light decay

A gas discharge lamp is an electric light source that emits light by a gas, a metal vapor or a mixture of several gases and metal vapors. Currently, glow discharge and arc discharge are used more. Glow discharge is generally used for neon lights and indicator lights, and arc discharge can have a strong light output, mainly used as an illumination source. Gas discharge lamps can be divided into two categories according to the high pressure and low pressure, namely low-pressure discharge lamps and high-intensity discharge (HID) lamps. Low-pressure gas discharge lamps mainly include fluorescent lamps (low-pressure mercury lamps), low-pressure sodium lamps and electrodeless lamps, while HID lamps include high-pressure mercury lamps, high-pressure sodium lamps, metal halide lamps (metal halide lamps, HQI) and the like.

Fluorescent lamps began to appear in 1938. At that time, the products were mainly T12 (light tube diameter 38mm), T10 (32mm), 1978 T8 (26mm), and 1995 T5 (16mm). The development of fluorescent lamps is closely related to phosphors. The halogen powder was originally used, which has low luminous efficiency and is seriously deteriorated under ultraviolet irradiation. T5 was not produced until the rare earth trichromatic phosphor was invented. Its appearance increased the luminous efficiency of the fluorescent lamp by 50% and the life by 150%, which has obvious energy saving effect. In the 1930s, low-pressure sodium lamps and high-pressure mercury lamps also began to appear, with light effects 2.5 times higher than incandescent lamps, but poor color rendering.

In the 1960s, high-pressure sodium lamps and metal halide lamps began to develop. In 1962, the United States first solved the anti-corrosion and translucent polycrystalline alumina tube material of sodium at high temperature and high pressure, and broke through the sealing process to make the first high-pressure sodium lamp. At that time, the luminous efficiency was 90 lm/W. The color rendering index Ra is 25, the life is 5000h, the light emitted is golden yellow, and the energy saving effect is very good. It is quickly applied in outdoor lighting applications such as roads, ports, stations, factories, bridges, and squares. The metal halide lamp is a light source made by adding various metal halides on the basis of a high-pressure mercury lamp, and has the characteristics of high luminous efficiency, good color rendering performance and long service life, and is a new energy-saving light source close to daylight color, widely used. Indoor lighting in sports venues, exhibition centers, large shopping malls, industrial plants, street plazas, stations, docks, etc.
