Google has applied for a new technology patent that can be used to directly implant an electronic eye into the user's eye. Google has been developing smart glasses and smart contact lenses for many years, but the company's latest patented technology will perform similar functions in a more direct way. In a patent file approved by the US Patent and Trademark Office last week, Google said it would remove the human lens, fill the empty lens capsule with liquid, and then add an electron lens to the liquid.

With such a lens, no frame glasses or contact lenses are needed anymore. Even telescopes and microscopes are no longer needed, and even the lenses needed to take photos and videos can be thrown away.

This computerized lens can be automatically adjusted to help people see different objects in the distance. The lens can harvest energy through the movement of the eyeball and can even be connected to nearby wireless devices.

Google said the technology can be used to treat presbyopia and to correct common eye problems such as myopia, hyperopia and astigmatism. We are now correcting blurred vision mainly by using frame glasses or contact lenses, but sometimes the vision problems are still not fully corrected.

The use of such an electronic eye has significant advantages. But Google pointed out that privacy issues may become a concern. If such an electronic eye is constantly transmitting data, law enforcement agencies and hackers can intercept signals to determine the identity of the user or to track how the user is active. But Google said that personal identity information can be removed from the electronic eye to ensure the security of such data.

However, it should be noted that Google and many technology companies are constantly applying for various technology patents, but many of them cannot be turned into finished products. So it is unclear whether Google will eventually implant this electronic eye for users.
