Inventory of current heavyweight rookie products in the hands of home appliance manufacturers, the first is smart TV. Color TV giants carry different operating platforms, saying that "application platform" has become the marketing card of enterprises.

Domestic enterprises

Switch to Google platform

Recently, Konka and Skyworth have successively launched smart TVs equipped with Google's Android operating system. Prior to this, the platforms used by Konka and Skyworth were all self-developed operating systems.

The person in charge of Konka stated that he did not give up his own operating platform, and the new products launched this time will provide consumers with more diversified choices. The other two mainstream TV manufacturers, who did not wish to be named, also told reporters that Google’s smart TVs will be available immediately. One of the vendors added that it is not the products of their own platforms that are not good, but that they want more products.

TCL, which originally favored the Android system, once again strengthened the influence of smart TVs. Recently, TCL launched the first super smart Internet TV and launched the world's first Android system TV application store.

Smart TV

Competition is the application

The competition of smart TV is more about the competition of the application. Who is able to provide the most timely application updates and more powerful backend support? Compared with domestic platforms, Andriod is more competitive. Zhang Subing, technical director of the China Electronics Standardization Institute, told reporters that it is expected that in 2012, the mainstream smart TV will fully adopt the Andriod system.

Owen Consulting analyst Yu Liangxing pointed out that if the software is to be developed based on the Andriod system, this will maximally test the compatibility of domestic smart TV platforms.

Autonomous platform

Faced with R&D waste

An IT technician explained to the reporter that from a technical point of view, although the domestic platform can be compatible with software and applications based on Andriod system development, it needs to pay a high "compatibility" cost. This is also the reason why domestic companies have recently switched to the Google system.

On the other hand, domestic companies have paid a lot of R&D expenses for their own platforms in the early stages. Can they recover the cost? One analyst, who declined to be named, pointed out that smart TVs have not been hot sellers since listing. So far, various companies have been warming up the market. Therefore, domestic companies switched to the Google camp, and the investment in R&D of the previous autonomous platforms must have been wasted. Although domestic companies still claim to not give up their own platforms, their products will become increasingly marginalized.
