In the future, global energy demand can be met by a single source of solar energy, but achieving this is no easy task. Scientists have created a variety of solar cell technologies that open up their brains.

Perovskite solar cells are coming

In recent years, perovskite has frequently appeared in the world. From 2009 to 2014, the photoelectric conversion rate of perovskite solar cells can reach nearly 20%, which challenges traditional crystalline silicon solar cells. It should be noted that since the development of crystalline silicon solar cells in the 1970s, the highest conversion rate is 25%. The higher the photoelectric conversion rate, the greater the possibility that solar energy will “manage” the energy demand of human beings.

At present, 80% of the solar panel production materials are crystalline silicon, but the solar cell production and installation cost of this material is very high, which means that a better alternative is needed, and perovskite is undoubtedly one of the strong candidates.

In 1983, perovskites were found inside the mantle, named after the Russian mineralogist Levperovskite. Since 2009, scientists including the University of Oxford and the Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne, Switzerland have been paying high attention to the mine.

“The photoelectric conversion efficiency of perovskite solar cells has increased rapidly in a short period of time, and there has been a burst of 'perovskite heat',” said Michael Graetzel, director of the Photonics and Interface Laboratory at the Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne. With a peak of 19.3%, the future has yet to be further improved."

Graetzel helped develop a new type of solar cell based on the existing foundation. “Distributing the perovskite to the top of a traditional crystalline silicon solar cell greatly increases efficiency,” he said. “The cost is not high. This is a good application prospect for mainstream solar panels.”

Since the perovskite reacts particularly strongly to water and high temperatures, its stability test has yet to be further developed. Graetzel said, "These tests are currently in progress. I am very sure that these problems can be solved properly. It is really exciting."

Old car battery turns waste into treasure

One of the essential raw materials for the manufacture of perovskite solar cells is lead, but the lead extracted directly from the ore is toxic, and researchers at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology have found alternatives.

The research team led by AngelaBelcher replaced lead with recycled lead in used car batteries. Since a perovskite solar cell is only a few microns thick, the amount of lead recovered is very low, and an old car battery is enough to recover lead. Produce solar panels that power 30 homes. This technology can be said to be a new application of perovskite solar cells.

According to the International Battery Council, more than 98% of the lead in old batteries is generally recycled, mainly for making new batteries. However, with the changes in the automotive industry, lithium batteries have gradually become popular, the demand for new batteries for automobiles has gradually decreased, and a large number of used batteries have been eliminated.

Fortunately, the demand for perovskite solar cells has risen sharply, opening up a new market for used car batteries. It turns waste into treasure and avoids the old battery polluting environment. The technology has received strong support from the US government and the government subsidies are abundant.

Traffic Lights are traffic lights that command traffic and are generally made up of red lights, green lights and yellow lights. The red light means no traffic, the green light is allowed to pass, and the yellow light is a warning.

Traffic lights are divided into:light motor vehicles, no-motor vehicles lights, pedestrian signal lights, direction indicator lamp(arrow lights),driveway lights, flashing warning lights, road and rail light plane crossing.Traffic Lights
